The only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and your willingness to work for them. – Michelle Obama

Instead of the usual resolutions that we tend to break, how about focusing on things to keep you going through the year? Here’s our list of aspirational and motivational challenges you should set for yourself in the new year, to help make a better you:

Focus on what you have
The past year has been particularly tough on all of humanity, and we need to collectively focus and be thankful for what we have. It’s easy to dwell on what we want, but instead; how about truly appreciating that we’re alive and healthy in the new year?

Live in the now
We’re often caught up with what could have been in the past or what we think should happen in the future, that we forget about living in the present. Start this year living where it matters the most – the now. Tell yourself empowering stories, care about yourself and focus on what is important to you.

Celebrate obstacles
Remember that every obstacle that comes your way is merely helping you get a step closer to your dreams. Motivate yourself to take challenges in your stride and do your best to overcome them.

Create a list of things to look forward to
Your list needn’t be elaborate – It could comprise of something big like a planned vacation or even something small like looking forward to a to-be-released book by a favorite author. The idea is to create hope and celebrate all joys the whole year through.

Take on a monthly 30-day project
Come up with a list of challenges, and complete one each month. These could range from simple goals to more aspirational ones; the idea is to do something that keeps you motivated for the year.

Tackle that habit
How about picking up one good habit to build this year or a less desirable one that you’ve always been trying to break? Keeping it to just one or two ensures you don’t lose focus and can work on it with dedication.

Take one day at a time
It’s important to remember that you’re competing with no one but yourself here. Don’t look at each challenge as something that needs to be immediately addressed; but take your time to get there, slowly and steadily.

Create the life you want and set yourself up for success in 2021!
